The origin of Bouvier des Flandres is the region of the same name, located between France and Belgium, and was utilized as sheepdog for looking after the cattle and guarding the farms. He was a perfect support for the local farmers, thanks to the solid body, the waterproof coat and the strong character. |

The Bouvier des Flandres, without losing his character of cattle-dog, is presently utilized as guard and defence dog, with excellent performances in the relevant competitions. |
